Project: Etihad Airways – Sydney Lounge

When Laurie Wiggins from Raven Electrical approached OE Elsafe looking for a solution for his client Etihad Airways, he said he had no luck with conventional power outlets. Etihad Airways’ new Corporate Lounge in Sydney Airport required a solution with a wall or skirting level mounted power outlet that could give the traveling guest a way to charge a multitude of devices. The main stipulation from Etihad was that the outlet needed to have an Australian socket, a UK socket and a powered USB outlet.

What OE Elsafe came up with was a unique solution incorporating the Elsafe PUMA. By creating the requested PUMA configuration, OE Elsafe’s technical team then designed and developed the required stainless steel faceplate that was incorporated onto the face of the PUMA outlet. The resulting product matched the exact requirements of Etihad Airways with the added benefit of matching the pre-existing stainless steel outlets from other manufacturers.

OE Elsafe used the Australian GPO, UK GPO and the TUF charger in the PUMA. By using the OE Elsafe TUF charger in the installation, this created more accessibility for the guests to charge their devices as it gave two USB outlets in one socket. The TUF charger charges up to 2.3A over two devices compared to the standard 0.5A – 2A charging capabilities with other devices. TUF charger has been specially designed to work with all mobile devices, including Samsung and can even charge 2 iPads at the same time without overheating or causing damage to the device.

Etihad Airways Corporate Lounge also offers the service of loaning out charging leads to customers – therefore Etihad customers can rest assured that their devices are charged and ready for the journey ahead.
